Empowering Indigenous Peoples with Research For Action

The First Nations Technology Council empowers Indigenous Peoples in British Columbia with practical information to advance digital equity and enablement. By delivering knowledge in ways that meet the needs and preferences of the people we serve, we are helping First Nations communities claim our space in the digital age for future generations.

What is Applied Research?

Applied research focuses on solving practical problems and addressing immediate issues and concerns. It aims to create direct applications for its findings, often offering tangible, actionable solutions. While academic research seeks to advance knowledge through theoretical exploration and understanding, applied research focuses on practical application and solving real-world problems.
