Jasmin Winter | Manager of Futures in Innovation and Technology
Jasmin was born in Vancouver and raised by a Hong-Kongnese mother and a British father. She completed the Masters in Development Practice program at the University of Winnipeg, where she focused her research on reorienting discourses surrounding the “digital divide” towards strength-based approaches that position Indigenous peoples as creators and influencers of technology.
As part of her thesis, Jasmin worked with the Initiative for Indigenous Futures to coordinate an Indigenous developed video game and virtual reality arcade open to the public. Through these experiences, Jasmin honed her skills for evidence-based project design for social innovation, and is grateful to be able to apply these to the digital skills programming at the First Nations Technology Council.
