About Dan

An educator at heart, Dan is passionate about supporting positive transformational change through learning. With a background in science, he is also keenly interested in how technology can enrich the human experience.

Dan has been an instructor at FNTC since 2019, teaching a wide range of subjects—from data analytics to GIS/GPS mapping, web development, IT support and more. Of Scottish and English ancestry, he is honoured and grateful to be welcomed into Indigenous spaces and for the people he has met, the places he has been, and the knowledge shared with him along the way.

Dan began working in the tech sector in 2014. Notably, he previously worked as a satellite systems engineer at an aerospace company based in Vancouver, where he contributed to the development of innovative satellite technologies.

Dan holds a Master of Education from UBC Okanagan and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from UBC Vancouver.

In his free time, Dan enjoys spending time outdoors. A former wildland firefighter, he nowadays volunteers with qathet / Powell River Search & Rescue (PRSAR). He is grateful to live and work on the traditional and ancestral territory of the ɬaʔamɩn (Tla’amin) Nation.
