Trisha Sarker teaches communications and digital marketing and is the Executive Director of Fitness Industry Council of Canada (FIC). She is also a sessional instructor for the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications at MacEwan University, teaching courses in Advanced Business Writing as well as Communication and Human Interaction. Trisha is also a course instructor at the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology.
Trisha is an accomplished business communications professional with a proven track record of influencing public opinion, policy, and legislative changes across Canada. She is heavily involved in many FIC initiatives such as music licensing tariffs, fitness tax credits, National Health and Fitness Day, Prescription to Get Active, and more.
A lifelong learner, Trisha is currently working on her Doctor of Social Sciences from Royal Roads University. Her dissertation is blending her two passions, physical activity and education. In her doctoral study, Trisha is examining the links between the outcomes of physical exercise on the academic success of post-secondary students. The goal of this research aims to promote social and economic change.
Trisha is also immersed in the arts with her classical training as a Bharatanatyam dancer. She is an international performer, sharing her art with the world. Trisha teaches and choreographs various styles of East Indian dancing as a Fine Arts Instructor for the City of Edmonton. As a teacher, she finds that her leadership skills are constantly evolving; as a choreographer, she finds herself developing creative presentation ideas; and as a performer, she finds motivation through sharing her inspiration with others.
