Amplify Awards Nomination Form

Please use this form to nominate an innovative Indigenous person, community, or organization based in British Columbia for recognition at the Amplify Awards.

Award Categories, Eligibility, and Criteria

The Amplify Awards will recognize the outstanding achievements of Indigenous technology leaders dedicated to empowering Indigenous students and communities through innovation. The awards will honour individuals, Indigenous communities, and organizations at the forefront of digital advancement and technological innovation, highlighting their significant contributions to community development and Indigenous leadership.

Any nominated persons must reside in BC, any nominated communities must be located in BC, and any nominated Indigenous organizations must have offices in BC and serve Indigenous Peoples in BC. Please ensure all required fields are completed before submitting the form. Nominations are due by February 14, 2025 11:59 pm PDT. Award Eligibility

The nominee:

  • Resides in British Columbia or has an office in the province.
  • Is an Indigenous person or organization that has embraced technology in an innovative and holistic way or is running a tech-based or enabled business. 
  • Has successfully demonstrated the use of innovative technology to advance the social, economic, and/or cultural interests of Indigenous Peoples and communities.
  • Demonstrates an ongoing commitment to the growth and success of Indigenous Peoples in the technology sector or empowers Indigenous communities using technology.

Nominations are accepted solely for the current year of submission and should reflect accomplishments achieved within the past 12 months or the specific period stipulated by each award category.

Award Categories and Criteria

Each of the following awards has a unique set of criteria that, when met, demonstrate exceptional commitment to leveraging technology in ways that uplift and advance Indigenous Peoples and communities, honour cultural traditions, and foster sustainable innovation:

 

Award Category #1: Indigenous Technologist Award

Award for an Indigenous individual.

This award recognizes an Indigenous technologist or entrepreneur who has innovatively used technology to foster personal or community advancement. 

  • Personal or Community Development: Clear evidence of how technology has led to significant personal or community growth.
  • Innovation: Novel use or creation of technology to solve a problem or create opportunities.
  • Inspiration: Serves as a role model or mentor within the Indigenous tech community.

 

Award Category #2: Innovative Community Award

Award for an Indigenous community or organization.

This award honours an Indigenous community or organization that has demonstrated exceptional innovation in the use of technology to strengthen their social, economic, or cultural practices.

  • Innovation: Implementation of technology in a way that is novel or transformative for the community (e.g., clean technology, economic development corporation, Indigenous guardians initiative, etc.).
  • Impact: Demonstrable benefits that significantly improve community life, such as education, health, economic development, or cultural preservation.
  • Engagement: Active participation from the community in embracing and advancing these technological initiatives.
  • Sustainability: Evidence that the technology solutions used or implemented are economically and environmentally sustainable in the long term.


Award Selection

 An Awards Selection Committee composed of Indigenous technologists and sector experts will review the nominations and select recipients for each award category. The recipients will be announced online in Spring 2025 and invited to the Amplify Awards celebration.
